Market Sizing

TAM, SAM, SOM with all assumptions written out. Beats the spreadsheet you half-trust.

What it does

/market-sizing builds a TAM/SAM/SOM analysis for any market or product area. The output isn't just the numbers. It's the numbers with every assumption made explicit, so stakeholders can challenge the inputs rather than just the conclusion.

Most market sizing documents fail because the assumptions are buried. This skill puts them on the surface.

When to use it

  • Building a business case for a new initiative
  • Preparing for an exec review where market size will come up
  • Evaluating a competitor to understand how big their addressable market actually is

How to trigger it

Say: size the market for [topic]

Example: size the market for AI tools for product managers

What you need

Works with zero integrations. The skill uses publicly available data and reasonable assumptions. If you have proprietary data (your own conversion rates, customer counts, average contract values), paste them in with the request. The output will be more accurate.

The output includes: TAM calculation, SAM narrowing logic, SOM based on realistic capture assumptions, and a section called "if these assumptions are wrong" that flags the most sensitive inputs.
